About Wellspring Niagara
Wellspring Niagara is Niagara's only cancer support centre, providing free emotional, psychological, rehabilitative, social and informational support to people impacted by a cancer diagnosis — patients, caregivers and families alike. As a not-for-profit charitable organization, we receive no government funding and rely entirely on the generosity of the community we serve.
Position Overview
The Program Volunteer Coordinator is a key member of Wellspring Niagara's frontline Mission Delivery team, working in close partnership with the Program Coordinator. Reporting to the Executive Director, you'll anchor volunteer recruitment, orientation, and coordination while maintaining a strong presence with members and contributing to broader volunteer and program operations. The two roles work in tandem, ensuring seamless program and service delivery to our members and families. This role is ideal for someone exceedingly well organized, personable, and professional, with a genuine commitment to supporting people living with cancer.

Full‑time position, 35 hours per week

On‑site at 50 Wellspring Way, Fonthill, ON
Key Responsibilities
Member Support
Provide direct, compassionate support to members and families attending programs in person and virtually
Volunteer Coordination & Management
Serve as the primary point of contact for all program volunteers, including but not limited to front desk, peer, and Walker Family Cancer Centre volunteers
Recruit, screen, orient, and onboard new volunteers in accordance with Wellspring's policies and training standards
Identify volunteer recruitment needs and proactively address gaps, in collaboration with the Program Coordinator
Coordinate volunteer scheduling and maintain up‑to‑date records of volunteer availability and assignments
Coordinate orientation sessions, buddy shifts,
volunteer meetings, and ongoing volunteer support
Schedule and distribute volunteer evaluations, keep procedures current, and review evaluation summaries with the Executive Director
Maintain and update volunteer information and the volunteer manager portal in Salesforce
Program Coordination
Coordinate programs and volunteers for all programs, where applicable
Maintain and monitor the Peer Navigation program, including timely input of peer navigation logs and assignment to appropriate peer support volunteers
Regularly manage and audit peer navigation files, volunteer schedules, and Reiki schedules; troubleshoot concerns with the Program Coordinator and/or Executive Director
Build and maintain positive, professional relationships with community partners (e.g. WFCC, schools)
Attend Program Committee meetings, Strategic Planning sessions, and Wellspring Network Program meetings
Secondary Support
Support the Program Coordinator with program scheduling, calendar coordination, and program materials as required
Assist with program setup, daily operations, and evening and weekend programming as required
Qualifications
A collaborative spirit and genuine commitment to Wellspring's mission
Direct experience working with individuals in vulnerable or sensitive circumstances
Explicit, professional communication with members, partners, volunteers, and community stakeholders
Strong organizational skills with a proven ability to follow through and manage competing priorities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Post‑secondary education in health, social services, or a related field is preferred; equivalent experience will be considered
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated experience recruiting, coordinating, and supporting volunteers in a non‑profit, healthcare, or community setting
Experience with Salesforce or other CRM systems
Ability to speak publicly to groups of all sizes
Position Requirements
Standard 35‑hour work week with flexibility for evenings and weekends as required
Valid Police/Criminal Reference Check required
Valid "G" driver's license with access to a reliable vehicle
Complete Wellspring's volunteer training program
Attend and assist at Wellspring Niagara special events
May be required to attend orientation sessions at other centres within the Wellspring network
