Impact youth lives as a Shelter Diversion Worker at BGC Okanagan in Kelowna, BC. Utilize your crisis intervention and networking skills to provide immediate support to young individuals facing homelessness.
In this temporary role, lasting until March 31, 2027, you'll engage youth through creative problem-solving while connecting them with local resources. You will collaborate in developing personalized safety plans and life skills to secure positive outcomes. Work hours are 26 hours weekly, with weekend and evening shifts.
Key Responsibilities:
• Collaborate in case management assessments
• Provide life skills training, including personal finance
• Facilitate appointments and transport youth as needed
• Monitor and maintain important case documentation
• Implement strategies for emergency prevention and safety
Requirements:
• Certificate in a human/social service field
• One year of relevant experience desired
• Class 5 driver's license and a reliable vehicle
• Dedicated to creating safe environments for youth
• Skills in early intervention and emotional support
