Position Highlights
Relief Part Time opportunity for a Pharmacy Assistant at St. Paul's Hospital, Vancouver, BC.
Relief role available until November 2026 or until the incumbent returns.

Detailed Overview Under the general supervision of the Coordinator, Pharmacy Services or designated, the assistant helps with medication dispensing by measuring, non‑sterile compounding, packaging, and distributing medications. Maintains stock levels, and performs clerical duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
Receives, sorts, counts, measures and fills both patient‑specific and non‑patient‑specific medication containers, assists in the distribution of medications to patient care units, and maintains appropriate records.
Compounds non‑sterile pharmaceutical products according to established protocols.
Repackages medications into unit‑of‑use format and maintains repackaging and compounding records.
Maintains appropriate quantities of wardstock medications, validates medication selection accuracy per established policies, and records QA reviews.
Maintains pharmacy department inventory and wardstock quantities for non‑controlled and controlled medications, and records inventory, transfer, and delivery details.
Identifies outdated drugs for return or destruction by reviewing expiry dates.
Ensures department work areas remain tidy and ordered, stocking pharmaceuticals, labels, containers, and glassware per procedures.
Performs related clerical duties such as answering telephone, filing, and maintaining medication and prescription records.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Grade 12 or graduation from a recognized Pharmacy Assistant course, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Skills and Abilities
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Ability to deal with others effectively.
Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
Ability to type.
Ability to organize work.
Ability to operate related equipment.
