Job Description
The Produce Utility Clerk is responsible for ensuring customer service is provided through maintaining a safe and efficient operation while adhering to company policies, procedures and standards. The position reports directly to the Produce Supervisor/Produce Manager.

Responsibilities

Provides customer service and maintains positive customer relations through proper handling of customer questions, comments, requests and complaints, working friendly and proficiently in a diverse team setting.

Performs all aspects of the Produce Utility function including culling, stocking, displays and facing in an efficient and organized manner, ensuring display presentation and stock levels are maintained.

Handles merchandise ensuring quality, minimizing damages and markdowns, providing substitutions and ensuring price integrity including price changes.

Performs general cleanup duties such as cleaning spills and display fixtures, keeping the sales floor and back stock area clean from cardboard and debris and disposing of garbage.

Performs duties following established Occupational Health & Safety, Food Safety, and Environmental regulations and policies to ensure health and safety of all staff and customers.

Ensures proper care,



use and maintenance of equipment and tools, reporting repair requirements to the Produce Supervisor or Duty Manager.

Responsible for all aspects of ordering merchandise and supplies.

Responsible for all aspects of receiving, reviewing and verifying invoices, returns, transfers, claims and proper storage of products.

Assists in organizing and conducting inventory.

Qualifications

Grade 9 or an acceptable combination of education and experience.

Related retail experience, including provision of customer service.

Receiving, counter set-up and product knowledge/experience.

Knowledge of ordering merchandise and supplies, and related procedures.

Must be fluent in English.
