The QC Technician is a skilled construction professional responsible for ensuring Traine's quality standards are achieved throughout the finishing stages of construction and into project handover. This role combines detailed quality inspections, documentation, trade coordination, and hands‑on skilled construction work to deliver a "Sharp and Polished" final product. Working closely with the Site Superintendent, the QC Technician identifies deficiencies, verifies completed work, performs skilled carpentry and finishing tasks, and assists trades in resolving outstanding issues that may impact occupancy, inspections, or project turnover.
This position is based out of "The Oliver" community in St. Catharines, ON.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct quality inspections throughout all stages of construction, including suites, common areas, and exteriors
Identify, document, and track deficiencies using company software
Verify completed work complies with drawings, specifications, building codes, and Traine quality standards
Follow up with subcontractors to ensure deficiencies are corrected promptly,
and verify repairs before sign-off
Perform skilled carpentry and finishing work, including trim installation, drywall repairs, patching, caulking, and paint touch-ups
Adjust doors, windows, and hardware for proper operation, and complete minor framing, blocking, and backing as required
Complete punch-list work and cosmetic repairs to maintain construction schedules and avoid delays to occupancy or turnover
Prioritize deficiencies based on occupancy dates and project schedules, and coordinate daily QC activities with the Site Superintendent
Complete trade walkthroughs and assist with maintaining organized deficiency tracking
Complete QC inspection reports, checklists, and closeout documentation
Prepare suites and common areas for occupancy and complete final inspections prior to turnover
Follow all company health and safety policies, maintain a safe work environment, and promote safe practices among subcontractors
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum 2-3 years of residential or commercial construction experience
Carpentry and interior finishing experience
General understanding of residential construction methods
Ability to read construction drawings and specifications
Working knowledge of construction materials and installation methods
Robust attention to detail, organizational,
and communication skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Valid Class G Driver's Licence
Preferred Qualifications
Red Seal Carpenter or equivalent trade certification considered an asset
Working at Heights, WHMIS, and First Aid/CPR certifications
Experience with Procore or similar construction management software
