SOAHAC provides services to Indigenous people including those who live on and off reserve, status, non-status, Inuit, and Metis within the Southwest, Waterloo Wellington and Erie St Clair regions. SOAHAC has a mandate of ensuring that health services are accessible, of high quality, and are culturally appropriate. It is SOAHAC’s objective to build health care capacity within Indigenous communities. Currently, we are seeking the services of aDental Administrative Assistantto join our dental clinic team to work at the London SOAHAC Dental Clinic with occasional travel to support our Muncey Dental Clinic.Reporting to the Dental Supervisor, theDental Administrative Assistantwill be instrumental in elevating the operational efficiency of the dental clinics and will play a key role in client experience as well as handling books, rescheduling, cancellations and managing insurance claims, verifications and billings. The Dental Administrative Assistant will be responsible for report generation, reporting on patient flow, revenue and other metrics to assist with clinic management.ResponsibilitiesGreet and register clients with professionalism, warmth,



and cultural sensitivitySchedule, reschedule, confirm, and manage client appointments to optimize provider time and reduce no-showsManage cancellations and follow-up appointments with attention to client care and clinic flowVerify insurance and government program eligibility, and assist clients in understanding their coverage and financial responsibilitiesSubmit and track claims for NIHB, HSO, CDCP, OSDCP, and private insurers in accordance with program requirementsMonitor accounts receivable, follow up on unpaid or denied claims, and resolve billing discrepanciesCollect payments, process billing transactions, and maintain accurate financial recordsGenerate reports on patient flow, revenue, and other key performance indicators to support clinic operationsMaintain up-to-date and compliant client records in accordance with privacy regulationsProvide clear and compassionate communication regarding billing, appointments, and clinic policiesAct as a liaison between clients, dental providers, and external insurersSupport the dental team and clinic manager with administrative and operational tasks as requiredParticipate in training and quality improvement initiativesWork occasional extended hours as neededPerform other duties as assigned by the Dental SupervisorRequirementsDental Office Administration certificate from an accredited collegeMinimum of 5 years of experience in dental reception and billing,



with a solid preference for experience handling NIHB and other government dental programsIn-depth knowledge of dental billing codes, insurance verification, and claims submission processesFamiliarity with Ontario dental public health programs (e.G., HSO, CDCP, OSDCP) is an assetProficient in dental practice management software, ideally ABELDent, and Microsoft Office applicationsExceptional organizational and time-management skills with the ability to multitask and problem-solve in a fast-paced environmentStrong interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrating professionalism, empathy, and cultural sensitivity when working with diverse populationsAble to work both independently and collaboratively within a team settingCommitment to accuracy, efficiency, client service, and compliance in all aspects of billing, scheduling, and administrative supportWillingness to participate in Indigenous Cultural Safety training, teachings and ceremoniesUp to date immunizations and recordsCurrent police check as a condition of employmentMust be able to travel between work locations as required to meet operational needs, including travel between the London and Muncey sites on occasion, with access to reliable transportation.This job may require additional responsibilities and duties as assigned by Southwest Ontario Aboriginal Health Access Centre.SOAHAC values diversity and is an equal opportunity employer; however, hiring preference will be given to qualified Indigenous applicants.
