Canoe North Adventures — Norman Wells, NT
Remote Kitchen Manager
Canoe North Adventures — Norman Wells, NT
About the Role
Canoe North Adventures is looking for a Remote Camp Cook/Kitchen Manager to join our team at our lodge near Norman Wells, NT, for the 2026 season. This is a temporary, full time position running August 17 – September 30, 2026 .
Our lodge is a canoe outfitting centre nestled near the Franklin Mountains and Hammer Mountain, about 8km from town. We host guided canoe trips, self-guided paddlers, walk-in guests, and hunting outfitter clients throughout the season with family-style meals served for up to 22 guests at peak.
This role is as much about hospitality as it is about cooking . Our kitchen is open-concept, meaning you'll be preparing meals while chatting with guests, letting them know when dinner's ready, and helping create the warm, generous atmosphere we're known for.
Most of our main meals are pre-made, catered meals that arrive frozen. The bulk of the cooking involves pulling trays out to thaw about two days in advance, then heating them in the oven. We do this for breakfast, dinner, and dessert. This makes the role more about planning, timing, and presentation than scratch cooking from the ground up, aside from the fresh salads and appetizers you'll be preparing yourself.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare scratch salads and appetizer plates
Prepare breakfast and dinner daily; prepare lunch as needed around flight schedules
Schedule menus using pre-made, catered meal components
Thaw and prepare freezer meals for breakfast and dinner service
Maintain kitchen sanitation, cleanup, and dishwashing
Accommodate dietary needs, including vegetarian options.
Deliver family-style meal service for groups up to 22 at peak season
Present food with care — hot, well-plated, and detail-oriented
Act as a warm, welcoming host in an open-kitchen environment; greeting guests, sharing meal times, and embodying our "never say no" hospitality style
