This is a strategic leadership role for someone who understands that how knowledge is packaged and delivered is just as important as the knowledge itself, and who has the editorial vision, health sector expertise, and deep connection to 2S/LGBTQIA+ communities necessary to make that happen.Position OverviewAs part of the Knowledge Mobilization team and working in close collaboration with content developers, project managers, and our Communications team, the Senior Editor will serve as the editorial backbone for our knowledge products. You will set and uphold the standard for what we produce, ensuring that every resource, guide, brief, or module we release is not only accurate and well-written, but strategically positioned to reach the right audience, resonate deeply, and spark action.This role is for someone with a strong understanding about what makes content land, and the leadership skills and collaborative instincts to bring a whole team along with them. Reporting to the Director of Education, Knowledge Mobilization and Policy, the Senior Editor will lead CBRC’s knowledge mobilization team of content developers and project managers to ensure that resources are being completed at a high quality and on time. Depending on program needs, the Senior Editor will also directly contribute to select high impact knowledge mobilization resources, demonstrating their excellent writing and content development skills.While this position is considered permanent, please note that the continuity of all roles is contingent on sustainable funding.Primary Job ResponsibilitiesThe position is responsible for the following four (4) key functions. Percentages are estimates only, and are averaged across one month.EDITORIAL LEADERSHIP (50%)Develop and steward an organizational editorial vision within CBRC’s knowledge mobilization team that reflects our mandate, our values, and the communities we serveEstablish and continuously refine knowledge mobilization editorial standards, style guidelines, and quality benchmarksAdvise on content strategy early in the development process, helping to shape the framing, audience positioning,



and narrative arc of knowledge products before a single word is writtenIdentify gaps between what is being produced and what will actually cut through the noise, and advocate clearly for course correctionsChampion plain language, accessibility, and culturally responsive communicationEvaluate and guide the responsible use of emerging technologies (e.G., AI writing and editing tools) in the content development process, ensuring that human expertise, editorial judgment, and community accountability remain central to all outputsProvide substantive developmental editing across a range of knowledge products, including community-facing resources, provider practice guides, policy briefs, e-learning modules, and video scriptsReview content for structural integrity, clarity, evidence base, and alignment with 2S/LGBTQIA+ affirming frameworks and community-centred approachesMove fluidly between big-picture structural feedback and precise line-level editing, depending on where a piece is in developmentServe as a final editorial checkpoint in the department before products move to copyediting, design, translation, or publicationWork closely with content developers to strengthen their writing and help them understand the "why" behind editorial decisionsCollaborate with project managers to build realistic timelines that account for the editorial process and protect quality at every stagePartner with the communications team to ensure editorial and design intentions, as well as distribution methods and channels, are aligned throughout production and disseminationCONTENT DEVELOPMENT (30%)Step into a content development role directly, as needed, based on team capacity and project needs, including researching for and drafting knowledge productsModel the editorial and writing standards expected of the broader team through your own content contributionsStay current on 2S/LGBTQIA+ health research, discourse, and community priorities to ensure content remains timely, relevant, and groundedCoordinate engagement with key stakeholders, knowledge holders, and audiences to ensure accuracy and relevance of knowledge productsSTAFF SUPERVISION (15%)Supervise 3-5 direct reports via regular check in and project meetingsContribute to the onboarding, training, and capacity building of content development staff, establishing shared language and expectationsComplete periodic performance management activities, including performance interventions, as scheduledLiaise with Human Resources to ensure staff HR needs are met (e.G. workplace accommodations)OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (5%)Attend and actively participate in team, department, program/project and all-staff meetings.Participate in caucuses, working groups, and committees as needed.Other duties as assigned/required.5+ years of progressive experience in editing, content development and strategy, or knowledge mobilization, with demonstrated editorial leadership responsibilityA portfolio that reflects range across formats, audiences, and levels of editorial intervention with a consistent commitment to quality and impact2-4 years of experience directly supervising a team of 3-5 staff membersAdvanced 2S/LGBTQIA+ cultural competencies, often gained through lived or living experience; close connectionsto community, particularly experience gained while working within or in close partnership with 2S/LGBTQIA+ communities, organizations, or movements; significant knowledge of health inequities and systemic barriers and other issues facing 2S/LGBTQIA+ communitiesExcellent writing skills with a track record of published outputs (news and journal articles, policy briefs,
