We are looking for an Intermediate Middleware Administrator, IBM MQ & Messaging Systems to work with one of our clients, a leading international financial institution based in Montreal.
CONTEXT AND ROLE OBJECTIVES:
As part of a global technical services organization, you will contribute to infrastructure engineering, administration, and support for business-critical banking applications worldwide.
You will join a Middleware group responsible for middleware platform administration, support, and integration of applications using middleware platforms. The role includes middleware software platform infrastructure design, installation, configuration, upgrade, and application integration.
You will work within a post-trade middleware team providing Back Office and batch processing middleware messaging solutions and support for middleware messaging system infrastructure and middleware applications across North and South America.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
IBM MQ & Messaging Systems Administration
- Design and install IBM MQ and/or Rabbit MQ.
- Deploy enterprise applications.
- Perform installation and configuration activities.
- Provide second or third level support to applications and developers.
- Support middleware messaging system infrastructure and middleware applications.
Troubleshooting & Production Support
- Undertake documentation, tracking and resolution of issues.
- Monitor recurring issues and suggest long-term solutions.
- Apply analytical and debugging skills.
Projects, Solutions & Automation
- Participate in and potentially lead projects to implement or enhance development services and automated solutions.
- Work closely with the business and IT to develop cost-effective, operationally supportable solutions that meet complex requirements.
- Recommend and design new technologies and solutions, including hardware and software.
- Provide documentation for projects.
- Evaluate new technologies to solve business requirements.
Standards & Delivery
- Deliver assignments within specified time frames.
- Adhere to all established standards and guidelines.
- Contribute to middleware platform installation, configuration, upgrades, fixpack upgrades and migrations.

PROFILE:
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- 2 to 5 years of experience in IBM MQ in design, installation, fixpack upgrade, migration, and configuration.
- Experience with middleware platform installation, configuration, and upgrades.
- Analytical and debugging skills.
- Client-focused mindset with a strong customer service mentality.
- Ability to work with developers, users, and other staff.
- Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
- Ability to interact across different groups to accomplish projects.

- Minimum of BS in Computer Science and/or related Engineering technologies.

- Frequency trading environment experience.
- Experience with configuration management tools such as Puppet, Chef, and related tools.
- Design and architecture on middleware application platform.
- Exposure to Cloud computing practices.
- Experience with tools and platforms such as JIRA, Jenkins, Docker, Elasticsearch and AWS.
