About The Role
The Welder & Fabricator is responsible for the fabrication, fitting, and welding of steel components and structures in accordance with drawings, specifications, and quality standards. This role requires strong technical skills in steel welding and fabrication, attention to detail, and strict adherence to safety and workmanship standards. The position supports marine, industrial, and custom fabrication projects.

Key Responsibilities
Weld and fabricate steel components for custom vessels and marine structures
Interpret and work from technical drawings, blueprints, and fabrication plans
Fit, assemble, and install structural parts with high precision
Use standard shop tools, fabrication equipment, and welding machinery
Collaborate with marine engineers, shipwrights, and other trades to deliver quality results
Ensure all work meets safety, quality, and marine industry standards
Support vessel assembly on new builds, refits, and specialty projects
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum 5–7 years of hands-on welding and fabrication experience working with steel
Ability to perform MIG welding on carbon steel to an acceptable structural standard
Welding certifications CWB
Experience working in marine, industrial, or custom fabrication environments preferred
Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and specifications
Strong understanding of welding safety practices and procedures
Successful completion of a practical welding test is required as part of the hiring process

Physical Requirements
Ability to lift, carry, and handle heavy materials and equipment

Work Environment
Shop and shipyard environments
Exposure to noise, heat, dust, and mechanical hazards
Overtime or shift work may be required based on operational needs
