Join Fort Rupert Elementary School as a First Nation Support Worker focusing on Kwakwaka’wakw language and culture. Help students thrive academically while promoting their rich heritage in a supportive educational setting.
This contract position involves working 26 hours per week, where you'll collaborate with teachers and school staff to enhance students' comprehension of their cultural identity and history. Your role is crucial in developing educational materials, conducting cultural presentations, and providing personalized student support. Building relationships with students, families, and community members is essential for success.
Key Responsibilities:
• Promote Kwakwaka’wakw history, culture, and traditions
• Develop culturally appropriate learning materials
• Coordinate cultural events with community elders and artists
• Support individual and group learning in classrooms
• Maintain accurate records for Indigenous programs
Requirements:
• Secondary school graduation or equivalent
• One year of post-secondary education in a relevant field
• Knowledge of Kwakwaka’wakw culture and language
• Experience with First Nations students preferred
• Strong communication and organizational skills
