Job Description
About the Role
PRT is seeking a seasonal Irrigation Specialist to work at our PRT Campbell Nursery in Campbell River, BC . As a key member of the forest nursery grow team, the Irrigation Specialist will assist in the growing of tree seedlings used for reforestation. The Irrigation specialist is responsible for mixing fertilizers and checking EC readings, using and maintaining the irrigation system as well as assisting in any nursery related duties.
Candidates should have a desire and keenness to learn about the forest seedling nursery activities, keep accurate records, work independently and efficiently. Majority of the work will be done outdoors with exposure to temperature extremes at times. Successful applicant will be required to complete in house online training courses.
Key Accountabilities of the Irrigation Specialist are
Mix and apply fertilizer according to the crop prescription
Take daily block weights while scouting for pests and diseases
Monitor and measure crop growth rates and conduct audits on lifted crops
Adjust watering cycles and climate settings using a computerized system
Use, Maintain and Repair the irrigation system
Assist in herbicide and pesticide applications
Assist in Greenhouse sanitation practices
Keep neat and accurate records
Support innovation and continuous improvement
Promote collaboration and teamwork at all levels
Set targets (i.e., production, timelines) and evaluate achievement
About the team
The Irrigation Specialist will work alongside Growers, Nursery Workers, under direct supervision of the Grower 1 and will report to the Nursery Manager.
Work Status: Full-time, Seasonal.
Weekend work may be required, especially during our busy season.
Start Date
July 20, 2026
Competitive Hourly rate; $26.44 per hour.
Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications & Skills:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Intermediate level skills with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Work, Outlook)
Great organizational and record keeping skills
Reliable transportation to get to the PRT site daily
Interested in and able to work in all types of outdoor environmental conditions.
Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks throughout an 8-hour work shift.
Appropriate work attire.
A team-oriented personality with a positive attitude.
A desire to learn and contribute to forest regeneration.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
Relevant forest seedling nursery experience
