Physician

Assistants are fully regulated health professionals in Alberta and must be registered with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA). In this position the PA will deliver acute care to patients at the Peter Lougheed Centre in Calgary within a multidisciplinary team in General Internal Medicine. The Department of Medicine’s Division of General Internal Medicine provides comprehensive clinical care for patients with complex medical conditions in a variety of settings.

Description

You will be working alongside physicians, nurses, pharmacists and dieticians.

Job duties often include taking and documenting the history and physical examination and carrying out a treatment plan under the direction of the attending/supervising physician. Duties will also include interfacing with nursing and allied health providers, providing education to patients and families, participating in safe transitions for patients being admitted and discharged, preparing patients for procedures, and care coordination. Appropriate supervision and support are provided, and a formal orientation and assessment period will be implemented.

Preferred Qualifications It is anticipated this will be a highly competitive job posting. Preference will be given to applicants who have recent experience in an acute care facility; specifically, those who have had specific experience within the last 3 years in General Internal Medicine.
