POSITION DESCRIPTION
Production Specialists will be monitoring product/material quality performance through applicable areas, from receiving, pin through-hole, surface mount components, finished PCBA and box level assemblies, and when applicable secondary and mechanical operations (coating, potting, stamping, painting, etc.) but not limited to these areas where the product or process inspections may be required. The Production Specialist will be able to support other functions required by the supervisor, such as assembly operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to
Inspecting products or components by confirming specifications, conducting visual inspection and measurement tests (whichever applies), and rejecting unacceptable materials (not limited to raw materials or subassemblies)
Perform inspection using defined inspection tools (microscope, calipers, CMM, AOI or similar inspection device)
Inspection of assemblies through the manufacturing process
Perform product assembly as required by the organization
Ability to operate visual inspection devices applicable to the operation (i.e. X-ray, AOI or similar inspection device)
Capture and register inspection data using the required system
Follow procedure when a non-conformance is detected, including actions appointed by the direct supervisor
Follow additional inspection instructions documented and defined by the organization and other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
Previous minimum 1-year working experience in the industry (either as an inspector, manufacturing assembly operator or other related position) or demonstrated equivalent competency to perform the tasks
Proficient written and verbal communication skills to perform product inspections and defect descriptions to and with all levels of the organization
Organized and detail-oriented
Quality focused with an eye for challenging the status quo, and driving continuous improvement
Demonstrate knowledge of IPC and other requirements identified above (i.e. IPC-A-610, IPC J-STD-001, IPC-A-600)
Above average degree of attention and ability to manage multiple activities concurrently in an environment where interruptions may be ongoing
Good computer literacy (Microsoft Office Applications, Windows OS, Machine specific software/programs). Ability to navigate computers across older/newer OS, ability to navigate programs to operate a machine
Must be able to work independently or in team environment
Ability to read, comprehend, and follow assembly documentation, standard operating procedures, visual aids, etc. and perform tasks up to standard
Awareness of safety protocols and ability to remain attentive to moving equipment and processes in a production environment.
Good detail orientation and time management skills
Good written and verbal communication in business English. A team player with good communication skills (ability to work with customers, within a team)
Preferred
Minimum 1-year electronic assembly particularity with SMT and thru-hole operations
Previous Quality, inspection or rework experience and qualifications/certifications is an asset
Background in IPC-A-610 (Acceptability of Electronics Assemblies)
Background in IPC-A-600 is preferred
Working knowledge of J-STD-001 (Requirements for Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies
Working Knowledge of IPC 7711/ 7721 (Rework, Modification, and Repair of Electronic Assemblies)
Working Knowledge of IPC-WHMA-A-620 (Requirement and Acceptance of Cable and Wire Harness Assemblies)
Physical Demands
Controlled manufacturing environment
Work is performed in sitting, standing, reaching and stooped positions.
Repetitive hand motions and repetitive tasks.
Good hand-eye coordination and mechanical aptitude
Strong situational awareness of surroundings to ensure personal safety and prevent potential hazards in a manufacturing environment.
Color identification is a requirement of the role
Ability to safety lift up to 40 lbs
Other Details
Base pay range: $21 - $24, $2/hr shift premium if working the afternoon shift
This is a 12month contract, 2 openings available
Work shift: Afternoon (Monday to Friday, 3:30PM-12MN); site is transit accessible, but the buses run on a schedule
Need to be legally eligible to work in British Columbia, Canada, full time for any employer
