The Egg Truck Driver/Egg Processor will work as part of the team ensuring the company’s policies and procedures are followed. Responsibilities of an Egg Truck Driver include pick-up eggs from shareholder farms or company owned farms and deliver to egg grading station; deliver eggs to stores and unload at preferred area; make extra deliveries if needed; collect money for cash sales; take inventory of supplies needed and deliver to barns; pick-up and deliver packaging materials to grading station; oversee safety checklist of truck and advise if there are any issues. Schedule truck maintenance with Egg Division Manager. Maintain accurate deliveries by checking eggs with invoices and ensuring the right documents are signed at delivery time. When driving duties are not required, the employee will assist with egg processing, packing, shipping, and other production activities to support daily operations. Responsibilities of an Egg Processor will include transferring ungraded eggs from carts or pallets to the loader; complete and record grade checks as required; packing eggs on carts or into boxes; and work area clean up. The individual in this position will assist in shipping if required stamping boxes and palletizing products.
Schedule
The work schedule for this position is Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm with a one-hour unpaid lunch and two 15-minute breaks. Weekend and holiday work may be required based on operational requirements.
Position Accountabilities
Pick-up and deliver eggs and packaging supplies
Oversee daily pre-trip inspection and cleanliness of truck
Accept money from stores for cash sales
Check invoices and deliver proper product
Load/Unload heavy product off truck using an electric pallet jack and carts
Maintain vehicle log
Maintain good relationships with customers and farmers
Transferring un-graded eggs from carts or pallets to the loader unit
Recording of wash water temperature and ph balance cleaning buffers
Pack eggs on carts or into boxes egg grade checks
Loading and unloading eggs and packing supplies
Cleaning and sweeping of buildings
Cleaning equipment and egg related areas
Building pallets for shipping to the breaker plant
Weighing, listing, and labelling of pallets when completed
Packing valuable quality products with high attention to detail to meet the needs of our customers
Protect the organization’s value by keeping all protected and proprietary information confidential
Practice bio-security protocols
Follow all safety processes and procedures
All other duties as assigned
Position Requirements
Grade 12 or equivalent preferred.
Experience driving a truck with air brakes
Valid Class 3 drivers’ license with air brakes
Have and maintain a valuable driving record
Strong commitment to health & safety
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (23 kgs)
Strong commitment to health & safety
Ability to work in a team environment
Experience in the agricultural industry is preferable
Experience in food processing preferred
Experience using electric pallet jack
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to work in a fast-paced setting
Working Conditions
The position operates indoors in a production environment that is physically demanding, fast-paced with repetitive work that requires standing for long periods of time. The work environment may be cooler in certain sections of the facility, with staff working in refrigerated areas. Proper safety footwear is required and supplied with additional PPE available upon request.
