A Skilled Construction Labourer performs a variety of construction tasks to support building, renovation, and infrastructure projects. This role involves operating tools and equipment, preparing work sites, assisting skilled tradespeople, and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to quality standards.
Key Responsibilities Prepare construction sites by clearing debris, setting up equipment, and organizing materials
Load, unload, and transport construction materials and tools
Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively
Assist carpenters, electricians, plumbers, masons, and other skilled trades as required
Perform concrete work, including mixing, pouring, leveling, and finishing
Assist with framing, drywall installation, roofing, demolition, and general construction activities
Measure and cut materials according to project specifications
Operate light construction equipment such as compactors, skid steers, or forklifts (if certified)
Follow blueprints, drawings, and supervisor instructions
Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to occupational health and safety regulations
Inspect tools and equipment and report any maintenance or safety concerns
Complete assigned tasks within project timelines while maintaining high-quality workmanship
Requirements Experience in construction or a related field
Knowledge of construction materials, methods, and safety practices
Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment
Robust physical stamina and ability to lift heavy materials
Good communication and teamwork skills
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious
Valid driver's license and relevant equipment certifications are an asset
WHMIS, Fall Protection, or other construction safety certifications (mandatory)
Working Conditions Work is performed on residential, commercial, or industrial construction sites
Frequent lifting, bending, climbing, and standing for extended periods
Exposure to dust, noise, and changing weather conditions
May require overtime, weekend work, or travel to different job sites
Preferred Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent
First Aid/CPR certification
Experience operating construction equipment or specialized tools
Benefits 10% vacation pay included on each paycheque. Typically, shifts are 11 to 12-hour days, with overtime paid at time-and-a-half after 8 hours a day and after 40 hours per week.
You will be eligible to participate in our Employee Benefits Program, which includes life insurance, extended health, dental, and vision coverage and RSP contributions, coverage begins the first of the month following 350 hours worked.
