The Opportunity
We are seeking a qualified Occupational Therapist to join our team in Vancouver, BC
Schedule: Two (2) days at Braddan Private Hospital and two (2) days at Point Grey Private Hospital
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide physiotherapy services to enable clients to achieve and maintain optimal health outcomes, promote independence and improve comfort.
Perform regular assessments on resident’s physical status, mobility and goals including but RAI-MDS, care plans, transfer and mobility assessments.
Participate in regular in-service training and continuing education that align with Vancouver Coastal Health and The Care Group
Contribute to the delivery of physiotherapy service at the facility by participating in quality improvement initiatives, meetings, conducting research, conducting in-services as well as other related education such as sling selection.
Support with assessment, plans and evaluation of walking program for residents.
Collaborate with the Recreation team to support activities that promote mobility and general activation (i.e exercise programs)
Qualifications
Full registration and membership with of the College of Occupational Therapists of British Columbia
Two (2) to five (5) years of clinical experience
Passionate about dementia and elder care
Believe in continuing education to further your practice.
Work well in a team and believe in an interdisciplinary approach to person centered care.
Skills and Abilities
Must possess the personal qualities and attitudes that respect and maintain the spirit, dignity, and individuality of the residents.
Must have a commitment to excellence in Care of the older person in a Long-Term Care environment.
Must be committed and understand working with residents with dementia.
Must have excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills and is able to establish and maintain relationships with Ownership/management team, staff, residents, resident’s families, and external agencies.
Demonstrates valuable time management.
Physically and mentally able to perform duties for above position.
Show a professional, caring, and considerate attitude to residents, visitors, and staff.
