About the Project

We're looking for native-level French (Quebec) speakers with qualified voice recording experience to join the Hydrus Project.

Theprojectconsistsoftwoscheduledrecordingsessionsfromtheirownhomestudio.

Becausetherecordingsgostraightintoproduction,theauditionvalidatestwothingsequally:yourvoiceand yourrecordingenvironment.

What You'll Do
Auditionwithtwo30secondsamplesusingyourhomestudiosetup
Onceapproved,youwillcompletetwoscheduledrecordingsessionsofapproximately4hourseach
Participateinnaturalconversation,prompteddiscussion,andscriptedcustomer-servicescenarios
Recordfromyourownhomestudiosetupacrossbothsessions

YourRecordingEnvironment

Three things are required, and each is judged separately:
Anexternalmicrophone: Aseparate,dedicatedmicrophoneisabsolutelyrequired—seebelow.
Adryroom: Yourvoiceshouldsoundcloseandclear,withnoechoorhollow,distantquality.Untreatedroomswithbarewalls,hardfloors,andhighceilingsusuallyfail.
Aquietroom: NoHVAChum,fans,traffic,appliances,orhouseholdnoiseduringrecording.

Minimum Required Gear
DynamicMics(bestforuntreatedrooms): ShureSM58,ShureMV7/MV7+,RODEPodMic/PodMicUSB,orsimilar.
Condensermic(greatinatreatedroom):



RODENT-USBMini,BlueYeti/YetiOrb,BlueBluebird,BlueBabyBottle,orsimilar.
RoomTreatment: Yourrecordingspaceshouldproducestudio-qualitysoundsamples–isolationshields,soundsabsorbingpads,etc…

Immediatelyrejected: built-in laptop microphones, phone mics, AirPods, Samsung Buds, headphone-attached mics, headsets, and gaming headsets.

Technical Specification

Youmustbeabletoproduceaudiosamplesinthemeetingthefollowingspecifications:

WAV format, 24-bit, 48 kHz, no compression. FreesoftwaresuchasAudacitycanproducethis.Ifyoucannotexportinthisformat,pleasedonotapply—thisleveloftechnicalityisrequiredforthisrole.

Commitment & Compensation

Compensation: $55.00 USD per hour
