Position: Casual Communicator Posting Type: InternalStatus: Full time vacancy, 12-month casual contract Hours of work: 12-hour rotating shifts (days, nights, and weekends), 36-hours per week, excluding holidaysCompensation Level: $72,338 through to $96,451 Application Opening: January 28, 2026Application Deadline: February 11, 2026We invite online applications from our civilian members for a position of Casual Communicator.PURPOSE OF POSITIONUnder the direction of the Communications Manager, the incumbent will provide an effective and efficient link between the public and the police through professional communications.SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESAttend mandatory training and undergo proficiency testing as deemed appropriateReceive telephone requests for service from the public and upon obtaining sufficient detailed information, prioritize the call for service and forward the same to the appropriate police field unit (s) or other agency by computer-aided dispatch and/or voice radio transmission or telephone, according to policy and procedure.Dispatch and monitor officers and maintain contact for officer safetyMonitor police units using GPS information systemsMonitor audio and video systems as per Policy and ProcedureFunction as a switchboard/C.P.I.C. (Canadian Police Information Centre) operator, answering the administration telephone lines and querying C.P.I.C. on behalf of non-mobile digital terminal unitsMaintain RMS (Records Management System) and C.P.I.C.
