Our team oversees the Inspire Volunteer Abroad Program offering unique opportunities for Canadian volunteers to gain hands-on experience in humanitarian development and the Gifts in Kind Program which is dedicated to sending in-kind donations, primarily medical equipment, supplies, and pharmaceuticals, to developing countries to build health infrastructure's capacities and address emergency needs. Job Purpose:The Programs Specialist, as a crucial contributor to the Inspire Volunteer Abroad Program, plays a pivotal role in all its stages, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of project dynamics. They meticulously prepare for volunteer abroad trips and assist in crafting impactful project designs. This includes a strategic approach to volunteer recruitment, ensuring that the program attracts individuals who align with our mission and values. Additionally, the specialist excels in data management, employing a systematic approach to organize and leverage information for informed decision-making. They also actively participate in volunteer onboarding and training, equipping participants with the necessary knowledge and skills for successful mission execution. The specialist supports fundraising efforts, galvanizing resources to underpin program sustainability. During trip implementation, they ensure seamless operations and foster a conducive environment for volunteers to make a meaningful impact. Post-trip engagement and evaluation are also central to their responsibilities, fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Moreover, the specialist explores innovative avenues for program expansion, including the development of new streams such as Inspire Medical and Internships, enriching the scope and impact of our humanitarian endeavors. the Programs Specialist is instrumental in realizing the program's vision of creating positive, lasting change across the globe.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Outreach & RecruitmentDevelop and implement plans for the selection of volunteersRecruit, energize, and retain volunteersBuild relationships with partner organizationsSupport selected volunteers to meet their fundraising targetsProgram ManagementScreen and select locations where the volunteer abroad program can take placeCoordinate with various stakeholders to develop a 2-week program in the specific host country of volunteer missionsDevelop curriculums and training modules for the Inspire programDevelop procedures for the proper running of all activitiesSearch and apply for grantsProject Administration Keep track of all volunteer records, sign-off sheets, and fundraising efforts in IR database and update regularlyManaging trip-related documentation, such as waivers, emergency contact information, and trip evaluations.Follow up with all the Inspire mentors after their participation with IRC, collect their feedback, blogs, articles.Volunteer EngagementCreate/maintain the database of all the volunteers who participated in IRC's volunteer abroad program.Work with IRC's volunteer specialist to organize events and capacity-building programs for the volunteersOrganize and lead community engagement eventsTrip ManagementCollaborating with trip leads to plan and execute volunteer trips efficiently.Assisting in administrative tasks related to trip preparation, including coordinating transportation, accommodations, and activity logistics.Providing support to volunteers before, during, and after trips, including answering inquiries, offering guidance, and addressing concerns.Facilitating communication between volunteers, trip leads, and relevant stakeholders to ensure a cohesive and successful trip experience.Remaining flexible and adaptable to take on any additional tasks or responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.Disclaimer:



Please note that while Volunteer Trip Management may be a component of this role, the assignment of specific duties related to this aspect may vary depending on organizational needs and priorities.Qualifications and Requirements:Master degree in social science, international development or related fieldStrong familiarity and understanding of Project Management Strong interpersonal and team skills; Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.Excellent organizational and leadership skills.Solid travel experience.Demonstrated capacity to work both in a self-directed manner and collaboratively with other staff and stakeholders; Experience managing youth development programs and leading volunteer trips.Demonstrated ability to coordinate logistics and work effectively with volunteers.Strong computer skills in word processing, spreadsheet, electronic mail and database systemsDemonstrated capacity to work effectively in a wide range of cultural and political settingsBe able to work comfortably in a fast-paced environmentExcellent problem-solving skillsStrong time management and prioritization skillsProficient with Gmail, MS Office suite, Adobe AcrobatAvailable to work flexible hours, additional as requiredFluent in English; Ability to communicate in French and other languages is an assetMust be eligible to work in CanadaPlease note: this position may require mandatory travels to IR projects worldwide and across Canada.Hybrid Work Policy:IRC has a hybrid model where in-office requirements are based on distance from our Burlington headquarters or a regional office.
