We're searching for an Underwriting Assistant, Marine. This is a hybrid position based out of our Surrey, BC office. We're also open to remote candidates located elsewhere in British Columbia. Are you searching for new possibilities?

In this role, you'll support our Underwriting team by providing administrative and technical expertise while developing your underwriting knowledge and building strong relationships with brokers and internal partners. Your work will help ensure the efficient delivery of marine insurance solutions and exceptional service.

Expected Compensation: The expected hiring range for this role is $36,800 to $46,000 based on a 35 hour work week. Actual offered salary will depend on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, as well as market conditions for the role, and internal equity.

As an Underwriting Assistant , Marine ,



you'll play an important role in supporting the underwriting process while developing the technical knowledge and skills needed for a rewarding career in insurance. You'll work alongside experienced underwriters, gaining hands-on exposure to marine insurance while helping deliver timely, accurate service to our broker partners.

You have previous administrative, customer service, or insurance experience

You have exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills

You communicate effectively and enjoy building positive relationships with others

You're proficient with Microsoft Office and comfortable learning new systems

You're eager to build a career in underwriting and insurance

Marine insurance or marine industry experience is an asset, but not required

You're working toward, or interested in pursuing, a CAIB or CIP designation

Once here, you'll:

Support Underwriters with policy administration, document management, and underwriting activities

Process new business, renewals, endorsements, cancellations, and policy documentation accurately and efficiently

Maintain client, vessel,



and policy records while ensuring applications and supporting documentation are complete

Monitor outstanding requirements and follow up with brokers and internal stakeholders to provide timely service

Work with Adobe/Foxit for PDF’s: creating & editing documents/templates, importing/exporting data, etc

Learn marine underwriting guidelines, insurance terminology, and risk assessment fundamentals while developing your underwriting expertise

Build strong relationships with brokers and internal teams while contributing to a collaborative, service-focused environment
