The successful candidate will bring 10+ years of experience in backend design and development, enterprise integration, J2EE architecture, COTS CRM platforms, and highly available mission-critical applications. The role requires robust expertise in REST Web Services, JPA/Hibernate, SQL/PL/SQL, Spring Integration, IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE) or MuleSoft, messaging technologies, Azure integration, Oracle/SQL Server databases, and cloud-based integration solutions.

The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, technical teams, and enterprise architecture groups to translate business requirements into scalable, secure, and effective technology solutions.

Design hosting technology and enterprise solutions based on client service specifications, standards, policies, best practices, cost models, and business requirements.

Design solutions for large, complex, highly available, and mission-critical applications.

Translate business requirements into detailed functional and technical solution designs.

Participate in the development of short- and long-term technology solutions.

Evaluate existing systems, technical performance, capacity, and scalability, and recommend improvements, expansion, renovation, or replacement.

Prepare technical specifications, architecture documentation, and other required solution artifacts.

Enterprise Integration

Design and implement complex enterprise integration solutions using established integration patterns, principles, technologies, and best practices.

Develop integration solutions using Spring Framework and Spring Integration.

Design and implement solutions using IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE), MuleSoft, or equivalent Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) technologies.

Work with integration technologies including JMS, AMQP, REST APIs, messaging, middleware, and service buses.

Design cloud-based integration solutions,



including integration within Azure environments.

Support integration between enterprise applications, COTS platforms, databases, and other systems.

Backend Development & Technical Design

Provide backend design and development using REST Web Services, JPA, Hibernate, SQL, and PL/SQL.

Work with relational databases including Oracle and SQL Server.

Design and develop solutions using J2EE/JEE architecture.

Apply hands-on experience with n-tier web-based applications and enterprise application development.

Work with APIs, message queues, middleware, ESB, ETL, UML, and other enterprise development technologies.

System Analysis & Requirements

Gather, analyze, and document business and technical requirements.

Develop use cases and detailed functional and technical requirements.

Analyze client needs and conduct cost/benefit assessments for technology solutions.

Develop prototypes and solution presentations for clients and senior management.

Facilitate discussions between business stakeholders and technical teams.

Technology Planning & Implementation

Plan, migrate, implement, and sustain large and complex system development initiatives.

Evaluate technology trends, emerging products, and developments for applicability to short- and long-term client requirements.

Consider security, recovery, performance, capacity, and availability requirements when designing solutions.

Develop and maintain technical documentation and solution artifacts.

Public Sector / Enterprise Architecture

Work within Ontario Public Service (OPS) Enterprise Architecture standards and practices.

Follow established OPS standards, documentation requirements, templates, policies, and architecture processes.

Align proposed solutions with enterprise information technology strategies, standards, and mandates.
