ONxpress Transportation Partners has been selected by Infrastructure Ontario and Metrolinx to lead the charge in modernizing rail service across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Areas with the On-Corridor Works project. We're on a mission to make GO trains faster, greener, and more efficient than ever before.This project is no small feat - it's complex, it’s large‑scale, and it’s about transforming how people move. Collaboration is at the heart of everything we do, along with a strong commitment to safety and making sure everyone has a fair shot at success.What You’ll Do:Lead and mentor a group of estimators within the Estimating Team, providing expert guidance and fostering a collaborative environment.Demonstrate strong data management capabilities, including the ability to create, structure, cleanse, and analyse large datasets, making effective use of tools such as Power Query, advanced Excel functions, and similar data‑transformation solutions to support robust and auditable estimates.Apply integrated reasoning to combine information from multiple sources (e.G. cost databases, supplier quotations, schedules, and risk inputs), requiring strong analytical judgement, critical thinking, and the ability to identify inconsistencies or gaps.Utilise your extensive experience in construction estimating across diverse scopes of work, including heavy civils, structures, track, and stations.Thoroughly research historical data, such as purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis, benchmarking, and reports, to compile insightful summary reports and establish robust estimating guidelines for the project.Demonstrate your expertise in design models and integrated digital delivery (IDD) software for precise project scope evaluation and quantity generation.Provide valuable insights into the design process,
leveraging your vast knowledge to ensure a seamless transition from planning to execution.Conduct a comprehensive review of drawings and tender documents to grasp the complete scope of work and submission requirements.Develop meticulous bills of quantities (BOQ) by leveraging your experience and employing various advanced techniques, including Bluebeam.Collaborate effectively with the Scheduling, Project Controls, Environmental, and Construction Teams to ensure alignment between estimates, program assumptions, construction methodologies, and project constraints.Leverage your decade‑long experience to establish, material price lists (derived from BOQs), labour, and equipment requirements, while accurately pricing from first principles the BOQ items.Utilise your extensive network and deep knowledge of the industry to assist the procurement team in obtaining competitive pricing from subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring cost efficiency without compromising on quality.Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.What You’ll Bring to the Team:Over 10 years of hands‑on experience as an estimator in the construction industry, with a proven track record of successfully estimating projects of significant scale and complexity.A solid educational foundation with a university degree or technical college diploma in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.Proficiency in reading, interpreting, and comprehending complex construction drawings including experience using BIM and IDD software.In‑depth understanding of construction methodologies, contracts,
and cost control techniques.Experience of using estimating software; the project uses InEight Hard Dollar.Exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to build and maintain robust teams and relationships, outstanding communication abilities, and impeccable attention to detail.Proven leadership capabilities, enabling you to guide and inspire your team to achieve outstanding results.Advanced proficiency in standard Microsoft software (Excel, Word, etc.), with additional experience in Adobe, Visio, Power Query, and Bluebeam.Impeccable time‑management and organisational skills, ensuring efficiency in time‑sensitive situations.A results‑oriented mindset with an unwavering commitment to quality and excellence.Expected compensation for this role is between$115,000-$135,000annually. Base salaries are determined according to multiple factors including skills, experience and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into consideration.
