Assisted Living Alberta (ALA) has an exciting opportunity to grow your career in a brand-new, state-of-the-art long-term care facility as you work with patients who have unique life experiences, families, & stories to tell.Willow Square Continuing Care Centre in Fort McMurray includes 36 long-term & palliative care spaces & 72 supportive living spaces. Its high standard of thoughtful design features lots of natural light, private rooms with zero-threshold showers, landscaped pathways, & gardens to make it feel like home. It’s also the first Alberta Infrastructure to use geothermal heating & set up to add solar panels & add 36 spaces in the future.In addition to a competitive rate of pay, ALA currently has a Fort McMurray Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $12,480. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team, utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills. Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program.Active or eligible for registration and a practice permit as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA).Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Knowledge of Medication Assistance Program (MAP).Ability to support the HCAs who participate in this program.Strong communication and leadership skills.The ability to balance numerous demands and conflicting priorities is essential.The candidate must be able to work well independently and within a team. Demonstrates critical thinking skills, including clinical judgment, problem solving skills and strong decision-making ability.Required to work to full scope of practice of LPN.Dementia Care Training (i.e. Supportive Pathway, P.I.E.C.E.S) is an asset.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of Medication Assistance Program (MAP).Have 1 to 2 years recent experience in LTC/ Supportive living / Seniors Health.Understanding of collaborative care & resident focus care.Experience working with Palliative Care clients & families.Palliative care education is an asset.Advanced Foot care training & experience preferred.Wound Care experience preferred.Experience working in a Charge role.
