Support women as a Women's Support Worker with Atira in Surrey, BC. This casual role offers on-site work in a compassionate workplace aiming to address gendered violence and promote community well-being.
In this part-time position, you will report to the Program Manager and support women through emotional and practical assistance. Your duties include active listening, advocacy, and helping women secure safe housing, as well as food preparation and health care support. You will collaborate with co-workers and the women you assist, demonstrating creativity and leadership in your approach.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide one-to-one support through active listening
• Assist women in advocacy and securing long-term housing
• Prepare and deliver food to those in need
• Administer medication and health care, including naloxone
• Collaborate with women and staff for program development
Requirements:
• Identify and live full-time as a woman or non-binary
• Diploma in related human/social service field
• One year of relevant experience or equivalent training
• Valid First Aid and Food Safe certifications
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training within three months
