Since 1977, Disability Alliance BC (DABC) has been a provincial, crossdisability voice in British Columbia. We are a non‑profit, charitable organization that champion issues impacting the lives of people with disabilities. Our mission is to promote a more inclusive and equitable society for people with all disabilities through direct services, community partnerships, systemic advocacy, research, and publications.

Program Description
The Access DTC program provides direct support through the Disability Tax Credit (DTC) and related benefits including the Child Disability Benefit, Canada Disability Benefit and Registered Disability Savings Plan to promote financial literacy and financial security for people with disabilities in British Columbia. We are seeking advocates passionate about social justice issues to join our dynamic team and help grow our impact in BC and beyond.

Job Description – Community Advocate
You will join a team of advocates, working one‑on‑one with people with disabilities to provide in‑depth support through the DTC and associated advantages. You will help raise awareness about DTC through the development of strategic partnerships and community outreach. You are also an active team member, able to contribute to the additional administrative responsibilities associated with the day‑to‑day operation of the program.

The successful applicant must:

Be able to work effectively with people with disabilities

Have a minimum 2 years combined post‑secondary education and/or applicable work experience

Have strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate complex concepts in plain language





Be computer literate and proficient with word‑processing software including the Microsoft Office Suite

Be available for occasional travel across BC

Be self‑motivated, adaptable, and able to work effectively with a team

Have excellent organizational skills

Maintain the integrity and confidentiality of sensitive client information

The following are strong assets for this position:

Experience with the DTC and other disability advantages (e.g. RDSP, Child Disability Benefit)

Experience in the non‑profit sector

Experience with community outreach or program planning

Experience with presenting complex information to diverse audiences

Experience working with Adobe Creative Suite

Have strong knowledge of social media

Experience with a disability and/or supporting people with disabilities

Experience preparing income tax returns using tax preparation software (e.g.,Ufile)

A driver’s license

Salary: $58,000 annually

This position offers the following benefits after a three‑month probationary period:

15 days of paid vacation annually

18 days of paid sick leave annually

100% of the cost of extended health and dental care benefit premiums

2 weeks of paid time off during DABC’s annual holiday office closure in December

Working hours and location
This is a fixed term position until March 31, 2027, with the possibility of an extension based on future funding. This is a full‑time,



hybrid position at 5 days a work week, 8 hours per day (with a one‑hour paid lunch break). The successful candidate may be required to work at the Downtown Vancouver office two days a week, and at home the rest of the time. The position may also require occasional travel to other BC communities

The position is located in downtown Vancouver, on the traditional, ancestral and stolen lands of the xʷməθkwəy̓ əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) peoples

Please note, the DABC office will be moving to 41st and Cambie area by approximately at the end of 2026/beginning of 2027.

About your work area
You will be assigned a desk in an open area (collaborative space). There are designated quiet spaces which staff can book when needed. DABC also provides noise canceling headphones as the noise level can be elevated at times. The office lighting consists of fluorescent as well as natural lighting.
