Canada Post is looking for two temporary, on-call Letter Carriers (Delivery Agent 1) in Port-Cartier, QC . As a delivery agent, you will be the face of Canada Post in your community, ensuring customers and businesses receive their mail and parcels.
Responsibilities
Sort and prepare the day's mail and parcel deliveries at the depot each morning
Load and drive a Canada Post postal vehicle along your assigned route
Deliver mail and packages to residential and business customers by foot or vehicle, covering up to 20–25 km daily
Work in all weather conditions including snow, rain, and extreme temperatures
Return to the depot at end of day to unload incoming mail and parcels for future delivery
Respond to on-call requests on short notice, including same-day call‑ins
Requirements
Valid Class 5 or Class G driver’s licence with a protected driving record of at least 3 years (driver’s abstract required)
Physical ability to lift mail items up to 22.7 kg (50 lb) and carry items up to 15.9 kg (35 lb) regularly throughout the day
Availability to work on‑call, Monday to Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.
Ability to work outdoors year‑round in all weather conditions
French language proficiency is essential
Experience in customer service or delivery/driving roles is an asset
Schedule
On‑call position with no guaranteed hours. Must be available Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. May be called upon on the same day with short notice.
Pay
$23.81 per hour
