The Town of Allan is seeking a skilled Seasonal Recreation Facilities Maintenance Operator to join our team.
Key Responsibilities
Arena & Ice Maintenance
Prepare, flood, scrape, edge, and maintain ice surfaces.
Operate and maintain the ice resurfacer (Zamboni or equivalent).
Paint and install ice markings as required.
Monitor and maintain ice quality throughout the season.
Facility Operations
Operate and monitor refrigeration, heating, ventilation, and mechanical systems.
Complete daily operational inspections and maintenance logs.
Report equipment issues and perform minor repairs and preventative maintenance.
Assist with seasonal facility setup and shutdown.
Building & Grounds Maintenance
Clean dressing rooms, washrooms, lobby areas, spectator seating, offices, and common areas.
Remove snow and ice from entrances, sidewalks,
and emergency exits.
Perform minor carpentry, plumbing, painting, and maintenance tasks.
Maintain arena equipment and tools.
Safety & Customer Service
Ensure the facility meets all health and safety standards.
Respond to emergencies and complete incident reports.
Provide courteous customer service to facility users.
Open and close the facility according to scheduled bookings.
Assist user groups, tournaments, and special events.
Qualifications
Valid Class 5 Drivers Licence
Arena Operator Level 1 Certification (or willingness to obtain).
Standard First Aid/CPR certification is considered an asset.
Basic knowledge of refrigeration systems, facility maintenance, and building operations.
Skills & Abilities
Robust mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding work in various weather conditions.
