This role requires hands on participation in the safe operation and maintenance of vehicles and equipment such as chainsaws, powered brush cutters, and backpack sprayers, while consistently upholding occupational health and safety standards.This position plays an integral role in the on-ground implementation of ecosystem enhancement through the management of invasive species,



bringing their leadership skills together with their ecological knowledge.Major ResponsibilitiesOversees the application of appropriate herbicides following best management practices under supervision by as a licensed pesticide applicatorExecutes on a number of general field work duties related to specific project/program areaCollects and inputs field data according to project scopeEnsures that quality control and assurance measures are followed at all steps of the work processAssists with the transportation of materials to and from sites as requiredOperates appropriate machinery and equipment required to execute work duties related to specific project/program areaDirects the public to project notice signage and possibly providing contact information for additional information and inquiries, referring detailed questions and complaints to supervisorLeads daily safety meetings including tailgate meetings, hazard identification and emergency planning and assists with maintenance of equipment and vehicles, performs circle and other health and safety checksIncumbents may also be assigned other dutiesWhat Will You Need To SucceedEducation (degree/diploma/certifications)Completion of college diploma in Resource Management, Ecological Restoration or Management, Environmental or Engineering Science, Landscape Design, Forestry, Construction, or a related fieldValid Ontario Class G driver's licensePesticide exterminator license (Forestry and/or Landscape).Knowledge of pesticide legislation and invasive species best management practices and are comfortable working with herbicides.Experience2+ years of experience in implementation tasks in areas of specialization.Knowledge/Skill/AbilityThe ability to demonstrate robust problem-solving skills in a field environment; is able to break down site required activities and delegate and estimate time / resources /budget required to complete tasksGood communication and interpersonal skills and ability to lead a team and participate as team memberProficiency in MS Office for general office communications (I.E., mail, spreadsheet and word processing software,
