Position Details: Position Status: Temporary Full Time, Term Ends: January 25, 2027, Location: Glenmore Park, Occupational Therapy Seniors MH BW, Hours: 77.50, FTE: 1.00, Shift: Days Shift Times: 0800-1615, Union: HSAA, Rate of Pay: $38.90 - $51.80, PCN: 23.MHOT004.

Position Summary
As part of a dynamic interprofessional team, the person in this role is responsible for case management/prime therapy of up to 5 older adult clients with a primary mental health diagnosis, often with complex medical needs; for creating strong therapeutic relationships with clients in individual as well as group therapies; for facilitating family systems interviews; for performing ongoing mental health and risk assessments; for performing cognitive assessments for all clients on the unit as required, and collaborating with other members of the team. Responsible for other related duties as required.
Program Summary
Geriatric Mental Health Program – a short‑stay program for seniors who have primary psychiatric disorders who require assessment,
treatment and rehabilitation to be able to return to the community. This is a voluntary program for those who are struggling with mental health conditions and who need more time for rehabilitation, improvement in their mental health and overall functioning.
Qualifications
Graduation from a recognized Degree program in Occupational Therapy
Registration with AAROT
AADL authorizer is an asset
Eligible for membership in CAOT
Experience
Strong oral and written communication required
Previous mental health experience required
Previous experience in group facilitation an asset
Previous experience in working with older adults an asset
Previous experience in facilitating family systems interviews an asset
Additional Job Requirements
Employees are required to use technologies, devices, resources, and systems provided by the employer, as per Carewest policy and procedure. Adherence to relevant privacy legislation and best practice including HIA, ATIA, POPA, and InfoCare Behaviours is required.
Successful applicants not currently working for Carewest will need to provide a suitable police record check and vulnerable sector screen. Successful applicants may need to provide immunization records for positions in certain environments.
