How you’ll make an impact
The Log Packing Operator is responsible for handling, stacking, and packaging steel sheets according to client specifications.
Hourly rate: $23.64 plus shift premium
Please note this role is a contract role to start and is on a continental rotating shift (11-12 hour shifts rotating between days and nights).
Job Responsibilities
Safely and efficiently stack sheets of steel into logs for packaging
Manually align and organize metal sheets to ensure proper stacking according to client specifications
Secure bundles using appropriate banding materials as required
Label and tag packaged products per client specifications and internal procedures
Perform quality checks to ensure the correct type, size, and quantity of steel sheets are packed
Maintain cleanliness and organization in the packing area
Follow health and safety guidelines at all times, including proper use of PPE
Operate forklifts or pallet jacks (if certified) to transport materials
Communicate with Team Lead and/or Shift Manager to report issues, delays, or quality concerns
Complete relevant documentation or checklists accurately and in a timely manner
Other duties as assigned
Quality Knowledge Requirements
Follow Protected Work Standards and Job Instructions
Follow 200 Level Manuals as designated (calibration, document control, material substitution)
Quality Plan
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (GED/CAEC) required
Technical or vocational training preferred
1 year of experience in a manufacturing or production environment
Prior experience operating machinery or equipment preferred
Basic mechanical knowledge and troubleshooting skills
Ability to read and interpret technical documents, blueprints, and schematics
Familiarity with production equipment and safety standards
Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
Basic math and measurement skills (e.g., using calipers, micrometers, or rulers).
Strong attention to detail and quality control
Ability to work independently or in a team environment
Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks
Good communication skills, both verbal and written
Organized and able to manage tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Basic computer skills
