Computer Install Technician (Casual 6-MonthTerm)
Location: Burnaby, BC

Position Overview
Microserve is looking for a Computer Install Technician (internally known as Deployment Technician) to join our team in British Columbia. This role is perfect for someone who is looking for casual work as this is not a full-time permanent role, rather it is a 6-month fixed term agreement.

The Computer Install Technician is responsible for deploying and retiring IT hardware in our branch or client environments. This may involve physical installation, transfer of settings or data, installation and configuration of software, or training and support for PCs, laptops, printers, and peripherals. This position may require travel and presence on client sites such as healthcare, government, and post-secondary institutions.

Responsibilities

Deploy and retire IT hardware including PCs, laptops, carts, peripherals and etc.

Physical installation of computers/carts/peripherals, transfer of settings or data, installation and configuration of software during deployments

Diagnose and upgrade PC software/equipment and reimage workstations during deployments

Deliver computer orientation to customers and respond to customer inquiries

Working closely with the client (Event Planners, DEAs, DE team, etc.) under the guidance of the Team Leads

Assist with occasional work in the Microserve Tech Centre departments: Warehouse, Asset Recovery (data wiping), Configuration (imaging),Parts and Breakfix Depot

Assist with occasional work in shipping/receiving of inventories, driver helper and assist in moving skids, professional maintenance and housekeeping of Tech Centre/Site storage rooms and etc. This will involve physical workload at the warehouse, in office, loading docks and etc.

Accurate record-keeping (Shiplink), preparation of damage reports and asset management





Work proactively to ensure that service delivery is aligned to the client needs

Supporting projects as required in various other domains, such as medical device cart assembly, audio video, print, etc.

Able to perform cabling work on ceilings / wallsand safely climb and work from ladders.

Skills & Qualifications

Minimum: High School Diploma / GED (experience with computers, electronics, mechanics, etc. is desired)

Ability to consistently deliver a positive customer service experience through strong soft skills and relationship building abilities.

Preferred: College Diploma /Associate Degree (technical field) or equivalent certification

1 year of experience in an enterprise/business IT environment

Knowledge of desktop hardware, preferably from an enterprise or business environment

Knowledge of software installation and troubleshooting in a Windows environment

Experience in PC assembly or repair

CompTIA A+ Certification (or similar) and knowledge of networking and server environments is considered an asset.

Vendor-specific hardware certification is desired.

Presentation and training skills is an asset

Position Requirements

Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs on a regular basis

Must be able to pass a criminal record check (CPIC) and driver’s abstract

Must have driver’s license and access to own vehicle

Occasionally may be asked to work early mornings (eg. 4am start), evening/night shifts, and optional weekend work based on business/client requirements. Advanced notice will be given





Possible travel across lower mainland (Vancouver area including Hope/Whistler etc, Victoria , Kelowna, Kamloops, Prince George etc.

Position location could be based in Vancouver or any of the above-mentioned cities.

Compensation
In accordance with the BC Pay Transparency Act the range for this role for BC residents is $21- $23 per hour. Please note, while the pay range of the role is listed here, this position’s salary is non-negotiable based on geographical market. Your exact salary is determined based on a combination of your relevant experience, skill, competencies, and internal pay equity.
