This is a 6-month contract position, with an anticipated start date of October 5. Preference will be given to candidates who reside in Edmonton, AB.
Riva is seeking an HR Assistant to support a people-focused HR team and help create a positive employee experience across recruitment, onboarding, engagement, and day-to-day HR operations. This role is ideal for someone who is organized, approachable, detail-oriented, and excited to contribute to a workplace where people feel welcomed, supported, and connected.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the HR Assistant will play an significant role in supporting employees and helping HR programs run smoothly. You will be involved in full-cycle recruitment, pre-boarding and onboarding, employee communications, documentation, engagement initiatives, and general HR coordination.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in creating a great experience for others, and can balance accuracy with warmth and professionalism. You will work closely with hiring managers, employees, internal teams, and external partners to keep people processes organized, timely, and easy to navigate.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE
Experience in human resources, recruitment coordination, administration, people operations, or a related support role.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and details at once.
A professional, approachable communication style and a genuine interest in supporting employees and candidates.
Sound judgment, discretion, and comfort handling confidential information.




A proactive mindset with the ability to follow through, ask thoughtful questions, and improve how work gets done.
Comfort using HR systems, Microsoft Office, collaboration tools, and digital trackers to stay organized.
A collaborative attitude and willingness to support a wide range of HR, culture, and employee experience initiatives.
Bonus Points For
Experience supporting full-cycle recruitment or high-volume hiring.
Familiarity with HRIS, applicant tracking systems, SharePoint, or employee engagement tools.
An interest in employer branding, employee communications, wellness, recognition, or workplace culture.
