Make a difference in London as a part time Counsellor for the Crisis Call Diversion program. Work with mental health emergencies, providing vital psychosocial support and handling assessments.
This role is essential for the Canadian Mental Health Association Thames Valley and involves direct service in a crisis management setting. You will assess risk factors, establish therapeutic relationships, and coordinate referrals to community resources. Your focus will be on promoting dignity and empowerment while ensuring appropriate support during mental health crises.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct mental health and addiction assessments via phone
• Build therapeutic relationships with individuals
• Facilitate referrals to community services
• Provide follow-up support to clients in crisis
• Collaborate with emergency services as needed
Requirements:
• Degree/diploma in mental health or addictions
• Minimum 3 years experience in direct service role
• Current Police Vulnerable Sector Check
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to manage crisis situations
