Language: English

Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate

Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years

Work setting: Restaurant and bar

Food Safety Certificate

Cuisine specialties: Canadian and international

Criminal record check

Key responsibilities

Determine appropriate food portion sizes and related costs.

Plan menus and estimate the food requirements needed to prepare them.

Prepare and cook complete meals, individual dishes and other foods.

Prepare suitable dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances.





Inspect kitchen and food-service areas to ensure proper standards are maintained.

Train staff in food preparation, cooking and safe food-handling practices.

Supervise kitchen staff and helpers.

Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment.

Clean the kitchen and work areas.
