Become a Full Time Support Response Worker with Shelter Nova Scotia, starting ASAP and lasting until March 31, 2027. Engage with marginalized individuals and foster a sense of belonging within a community.
In this term position, you will serve in various facilities, including emergency shelters and supported living environments for individuals experiencing homelessness. Your role will involve supporting people who identify as male or gender diverse, facilitating connections to essential services, and promoting stability without judgement. Be prepared for a energetic work environment where you will stay awake and alert during 12-hour shifts to best serve our community.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support individuals in emergency shelters and residential facilities
• Facilitate housing applications and access to essential services
• Maintain a safe and supportive environment throughout shifts
• Connect with individuals experiencing isolation and loneliness
• Administer a fund for non-recurring prevention needs
Requirements:
• Post-secondary experience required
• Valid driver’s license with own vehicle
• Standard First Aid/CPR within the first 6 months
• Successful background checks mandatory
• Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts
