We recommend applying as soon as possible.About the roleThe Enterprise Facilities team supports Canadian Blood Services to ensure premises, facilities equipment, grounds and building equipment comply with all internal and external regulations and operating procedures. In this role you will maintain and operate our infrastructures cost‑effectively while meeting all quality standards.Assists in development and management of annual operating and capital budgets, and in the development of long-term capital replacement and project budgets.Directs, monitors, and appraises the performance of third party service providers, ensuring all relevant information is documented.Oversees all external service provider activities and ensures adequate training to perform jobs safely, efficiently and effectively.Monitors activities and related costs to ensure costs are kept within budget while achieving departmental goals and objectives.Ensures all interior and exterior physical plant, premises, infrastructure equipment, collections, manufacturing and donor testing equipment, electrical plumbing, health, ventilation and air conditioning preventative and emergency maintenance requirements are met.Analyzes data and prepares reports as required.Controls equipment performance for cost effectiveness, trends energy and water consumption,



and participates in an energy/environmental management program.Oversees the implementation of the fire safety plan and ensures proper operation and maintenance of security systems.Desired education and skillsPost‑secondary education from a recognized institute with preference for Certified Engineering Technician or Technologist, BOMA, IFMA certification or equivalent.Minimum 2 years’ experience in facility maintenance management of medium to large sized commercial or institutional buildings housing the latest technology including computerized environmental control systems.Previous team lead, oversight of contractors or supervisory experience is a strong asset.Knowledge of digital controllers, computerized maintenance management system, refrigeration, air handling units, compressed air, fire alarm systems, sprinkler, card access system, security, hot water heater, humidifiers, pneumatic control and hydronic systems. Previous experience would be considered an asset.Previous experience working within an ISO 9000 or GMP environment, preferably within a highly regulated setting, is an asset.Effective communication with strong interpersonal skills, who exercises sound judgment while fostering strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and external service providers.Effective organization and time management skills with ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities within tight deadlines.An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.What we offer youPayment in lieu of vacation.Payment in lieu of holidays.Annual performance award up to 6%.Payment in lieu of benefits.Defined benefit pension plan.Employee discounts, wellness program, professional resources.What you can expectTravel requirements – travel will be required for site visits (by ground and/or air).Requirement to carry a pager/cell phone based on operational requirements.Diversity and inclusion play a vital role in ensuring health equity for patients across Canada.
