Role Overview
The student Photographer/Videographer works alongside the MSA Communications Team to create compelling visual content that supports marketing initiatives and strengthens brand awareness. In this role, you will capture and produce photo and video content that reflects the student experience and aligns with MSA values and the Equity Sequence. You will contribute to a collaborative, fast-paced environment, bringing creativity, technical skill, and strong organizational abilities to deliver engaging, student-focused storytelling.
Accountabilities
- Collaborate with the Communications Team to develop and execute photo and video content that aligns with the MSA brand, values, and marketing initiatives.
- Plan and coordinate all aspects of photo and video shoots, including concept development, scheduling, and communication with participants.
- Capture high-quality photo and video content at events, in interviews, and across Mohawk College campuses, with a focus on storytelling and student engagement.
- Edit and produce polished content, including post-production tasks such as audio mixing, colour grading, and formatting to meet deadlines.
- Organize and maintain digital assets using consistent file naming and storage practices to ensure accessibility and efficiency.
- Support ongoing and time-sensitive projects, demonstrating flexibility, responsiveness, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Qualifications Needed:
- Must be or will be enrolled in a Mohawk College program
- Legally eligible to work in Canada
- Customer service experience
- Must be available to work based on the business needs of the department through your school schedule
Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes
- Demonstrated interest in creating engaging, student-focused content for a post-secondary audience
- Proficiency in photography and videography using professional camera equipment, with an understanding of composition and lighting
- Working knowledge of industry-standard editing tools, such as Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere Pro, or DaVinci Resolve
- Solid creative thinking and storytelling skills, with attention to detail in both capture and post-production
- Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
