ABOUT THE POSITION
SkilledTradesBC is currently seeking one (1) Senior Policy Analyst to join our Strategy & Performance team.

The Senior Policy Analyst is responsible for independently initiating, organizing, and managing organizational policy development and implementation. This includes managing projects and facilitating the work of key stakeholders in researching, scoping, drafting, and editing internal and external policy documents and initiatives. This role is also responsible for reviewing existing policies and recommending policy solutions for policy improvements, including the identification and collection of future policy needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES
Policy Development & Implementation:
Plan, develop and implement highly complex external and internal policies and procedures on a diverse range of subjects

Support the implementationand deliveryofSkilledTradesBC’sinternal policy framework

Plan, lead, and manage policy projects and initiatives in collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders

Identify,develop,andguidethe implementation ofSkilledTradesBC’sinternal and external policies

Organize and manage the collection of policy needs from internal and external stakeholders, includingidentifyingand reporting policy and procedural issuesas appropriate

Support the implementation of an internal and external policy catalog and publicly publish external policies, asrequired

Conduct regular reviews of existingSkilledTradesBCpolicies, and make recommendations for updates and revisions to policies or operations asrequired

Support Policy Team members in reviewing, editing, and drafting internal and external policies





Develop and preparetechnicalbriefing, presentation,and reporting materialsto support decision-making bySkilledTradesBC’sexecutiveteamand Board

Attend and presentbriefings and reports toSkilledTradesBC’sexecutive teamand Board

Conduct public policy research andanalysis,anddevelopbriefings and reports to supportSkilledTradesBC’sdecision-making

Stakeholder Relations & Engagement:
Work with internal and external stakeholders in the delivery of policy

Facilitate and lead working groups involving external stakeholders, SkilledTradesBC’ssenior leadership and executive teams, operational and administrative staff to assess and development policy

Prepare committee agendas, meeting packages, presentations; brief on potential policy decisions, scopes,and record outcomes

Organize and supportexternal consultations with a variety of audiences to informSkilledTradesBC’spolicy

Research & Evaluation: Conduct varying levels of research and evaluation to support SkilledTradesBC’s policy and research functions

Conduct policy research and analysis, and develop briefings and reports to support SkilledTradesBC’s decision-making

Conduct and report on the evaluation of policy, research, and operational initiatives

Attend and support policy and research-related committees and stakeholder groups, includingrepresentingSkilledTradesBC when necessary

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE





A post-secondary educationinpolicy development and research, publicadministration, business administration, editing, or anotherrelated field or extensive experience in developing, implementing policy

An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered

Post-secondary degree in related field or extensive experience in developing and implementing policy

3+ years’ experience in policy development or related field is required for this role

Strong business acumen

Ability to manage collaborative policy projects with minimal supervision

Experience in analyzing various types of information and identifying operational direction

Policy development and implementation

Experience working for a public sector agency or government organization is an asset

Knowledge of BC’s trades training and apprenticeship system is an asset

COMPENSATION
Salary Band D: $72,898 - $98,628
