Bethany Manor , a non-profit Christian seniors’ housing complex, seeksa full-time Maintenance Service Worker. Team-focused applicants must enjoy older adults and be committed to providing a protected and healthy environment in a multi-building complex.
The Maintenance Service Worker reports to the Maintenance Manager.
Work Setting: Housing complex with apartments and townhouses in an urban setting.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Assist with resident suite transitions by refurbishing suites (patching, painting, installation of countertops, toilets, faucets, flooring prep, etc.).
Inspections and maintenance of the buildings’ HVAC systems.
Ensure efficient operation of all buildings’ systems (plumbing, electrical, etc.).
General property and building envelope maintenance tasks.
Scheduled maintenance and minor repairs in commercial kitchen.
Keeping maintenance records.
Property landscaping, seasonal maintenance of sidewalks, snow and ice removal.
General repairs to resident suites as requested (e.g. leaking faucet, plugged toilet, heat adjustment, etc.).
Small appliance repairs (vacuums, electric motors, pumps, etc.).
Operate and maintain power and hand tools, lawn and snow maintenance equipment.
Participation in Maintenance Team planning.
Education and Experience:
Completed at least Grade 12.
1-2 years previous experience.
Skills and Abilities:
Specific Maintenance Activities:
Work with minimal supervision.
Paint.
Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies.
Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on appliances, electrical systems, plumbing systems, and on heating, cooling, and ventilation systems.
Empty waste containers.
Perform routine maintenance jobs and repairs.
Remove scraps, dirt, heavy debris and other refuse.
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities:
Bending, crouching, kneeling.
Combination of sitting, standing, walking.
Physically demanding.
Handling heavy loads.
Work under pressure.
Security and Safety:
Driver’s validity license check.
Criminal Record Check.
Bondable.
Significant use of memory.
Job task planning and organizing.
Critical thinking, decision making, problem solving.
Working with others.
Oral and written communication, reading text.
Equipment Operated / Used:
Snowblowers, small tractors (lawn/snow removal attachments).
Power tools.
Administration Activities: Contact contractors for repairs and maintenance services.
Weight Handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs)
Transportation:
Public transportation is available.
Valid driver’s license.
The successful candidate will:
be committed to providing a safe and healthy environment in a multi-building complex,
demonstrate skill in minor home renovations and basic carpentry, plumbing, and electrical knowledge,
possess skills and 1-2 years experience, efficient and reliable, in maintaining building operations and routine maintenance of mechanical systems,
be team focused and willing to work with minimal supervision,
have a superior work ethic, strong decision making and problem solving skills, and a positive attitude,
maintain confidentiality,
be able to meet the demands of this moderately physical role,
possess the ability to recommend corrective action and implement required repairs,
possess or is willing to obtain a Fireman’s Certificate and a valid driver’s license.
Wage:
