Saanich Schools offers a temporary full-time Youth and Family Counsellor role within the Take a Hike program, aimed at promoting student engagement and positivity. Your mentorship will be vital to student achievement. This temporary position covers a parental leave, approximately lasting four weeks, with a starting date that isn't confirmed but won't be before September 8, 2026.
The role involves collaboration with teachers and families to bridge the gap between academic progress and emotional well-being. Your support will help create a respectful and focused learning environment. Key Responsibilities:
- Aid teachers in effective classroom behavior management
- Build strong relationships with students for better engagement
- Provide mentorship to help meet academic and social-emotional needs
- Collaborate with the program teacher and Mental Health Counsellor
- Reinforce positive behaviors in classroom settings Requirements:
- Experience in youth counseling or education roles
- Solid communication and mentorship skills
- Ability to manage classroom dynamics effectively
- Passion for student support and development
