Flexjet an award winning organization is looking to add talented Upholstery Technicians to the team These technicians will work with beautiful high quality fabric and leather to curate bespoke interiors for Flexjets fleet of aircraft POSITION SUMMARY Upholstery Technicians are expected to work safely and efficiently at all times Candidates should have general knowledge of aircraft cabinets and components including repairing modifying refurbishing and fabricating aircraft seating and interior components including stripping and re covering existing interior coverings ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Upholstery Technicians fabricate repair modify and refurbish aircraft seats divans sidewalls and associated components including the re upholstery of panels liners and sidewalls to high degrees of finish quality and structural safetyIncumbents must demonstrate the ability to work with high grade leather materials from blueprints drawings and other illustrations or written work instructionsTechnicians must plan prepare and cut materials to standardized patterns for stitching and fitting to customer and engineered requirementsUpholstery Technicians must demonstrate competency in the following accountabilities Possess all the various skills needed to build and break down a cabin seatThis job requires a high attention to detail not only for the purposes of appearance and ergonomics but also for safety and structural integrity purposesMay also measure cut and prepare foam materials used in the upholstery processFamiliar with breakdown building up and troubleshooting of aircraft seats and interior componentsAbility to strip and recover seats and their componentsAbility to match adhere and fasten together materials or components using adhesivesAbility to fit build up assemble and finish seating and other upholstered components from materials fabricated and manufactured onsitePossess the ability to cover large monuments such as headliners and sidewallsPerform work in a productive diligent careful and safe mannerComplete any special projects or other tasks as required or assigned May be assigned to other areas of operations based on business or customer requirementsWorks in compliance with all Administrative Health & Safety policies and procedures as per legislative requirements and as outlined in Company policiesMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Secondary school diploma required andor completion of CollegeCEGEPtechnical training in a related field preferredApplicants must have extensive upholstery experience ideally working with seating and leather materialsExperience in an aviation related field is preferredREQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES The skill to operate industrial single multi needle sewing machines sergers overlocks piping or binding machinesMust be skilled at operating machines to join sections of seating material typically leather as well as other components into finished products used within aircraft interiorsCandidates must be able to understand and work from blueprints as well as other written instructions and design specificationsStrong mathematical knowledge is required as is the ability to make accurate measurements and finish materials to a high level of quality and precisionExcellent planning organization and coordination skillsExcellent judgment with a strong attention to detailAbility to understand and follow direction with minimal supervisionProven ability to communicate effectively orally and writtenAbility to trouble shoot and problem solvePositive attitude and willingness to learnSelf motivated and able to maintain a rapid paceAbility to work independently and in a team environmentCOMPENSATION Hourly 2500 3123Hr We offer competitive compensation including 6 RRSP matching 10 deferred compensation second shift premium and HealthMedicalDentalLife perks to qualified and highly motivated candidates WORKING HOURS This is a full time FT position and hours of work or shift patterns may change due to business operational needs Flexibility is required and at present the standard hours of work are 7am 4pm Monday to Friday WORK CONDITIONS Regular periods during which physical effort is required eg walking standing stooping climbing lifting material or equipment some of which may be heavy or awkwardExposure to factors such as temperature variationsextremes fumes moving machinery humidity and materials which can cause periods of discomfortWork involves repetitive hands on tasks requiring sustained physical effort and manual dexterityAble to lift and transport up to 40 lbs with or without reasonable accommodationAble to wear protective equipment for extended periods of time including particle masks goggles assorted gloves head bonnets and disposable protective suitsFrequent need to give concentrated attention with one or two senses at a time where stimuli are changingOccasional direct and indirect pressure from deadlines production quotas accuracy or similar demands
