Your new role The Senior Accountant Homes (Construction) plays a critical role in overseeing financial reporting and supporting the accounting life cycle within the residential construction division.
This role ensures accurate preparation and first-level review of financial statements, drives timely period-end closings, and performs analytical reviews of financial data.
The Senior Accountant collaborates closely with internal teams and Legal to ensure reporting alignment with corporate structures and active project listings.
As a senior team member, this role also mentors junior staff and contributes to enhanced reporting through tools like Solver. A strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and deep understanding of accounting standards are essential for success.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Analysis Prepare and analyze quarterly and annual financial statements, including standalone entities and RCI operations.
Conduct Solver-based reporting and financial data analysis to support leadership decision-making.
Ensure financial reports align with corporate organization charts, project status, and legal entity structures.
Period-End Close &pliance; Lead timelypletion of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings, including journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
Review and verify the accuracy of financial information to ensure alignment with internal controls and reporting standards.
Maintainpliance with regulatory requirements and internal reporting policies.
Leadership & Review Conduct first-level reviews of financial statements prepared by junior and intermediate accountants.
Support onboarding and ongoing training of junior staff to build technical knowledge and process consistency.
Act as a subject matter expert and resource within the accounting team for Homes division reporting and analysis.
What you''ll need to succeed Education Requirements: Bachelors Degree (Preferred in one of the following fields):Accounting
Finance Certifications (Optional but Beneficial): Essential Skills andpetencies: Advanced Financial Reporting Solid knowledge of financial statement preparation, accounting principles, and consolidation practices.
Ability to identify discrepancies and ensure accuracy in financial data.
Analytical & Technical Expertise Proficiency in financial analysis, Solver reporting tools, and data validation.
Detail-oriented with the ability to interpretplex data and explain results clearly.
Team Leadership &munication; Strong mentorship and team collaboration skills to guide junior staff and cross-functional stakeholders.
