Job Title: Backend Software Developer Intermediate

Location: Toronto, Ontario

Work Model: Mostly Remote (Onsite - Occasionally for meetings)

Must Haves

- Strong hands-on experience with Python
- Proven expertise in Java (Spring Boot, microservices, enterprise systems)
- Solid working knowledge of Node.js (Express, NestJS, or similar)
- Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs and microservices architecture
- Hands-on experience with Cursor LLM - using AI-powered code completion in daily workflows
- Proficiency integrating or building with Claude (API integration, prompt engineering, Claude-powered features)
- Minimum 3 years working with LLM/AI development tools (GitHub Copilot, Claude, or similar)
- Hands-on experience deploying and managing applications on AWS or Azure
- Proficiency with SQL databases (MySQL, SQL Server) and data modeling
- Strong version control experience (Git, GitHub, SVN)
- Agile experience (Scrum, sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives)
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Linux environments

Role Overview

- Design and build scalable, enterprise-grade backend systems while leveraging AI-assisted development workflows
- Exposure to modern frontend technologies as needed

Key Responsibilities

- Build LLM-augmented features - integrate Claude API for intelligent backend capabilities (content generation, analysis, summarization, etc.)




- Optimize database performance - write efficient SQL queries, design schemas, and manage data storage
- Collaborate with teams (product, architecture, QA, frontend) to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
- Maintain code quality through testing, documentation, peer reviews, and performance optimization
- Troubleshoot and debug production issues and optimize for security and reliability
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to architectural decisions

Experience & Skill Set Requirements

Nice-to-Have Skills

- Experience with C#, Ruby on Rails, or .NET frameworks
- Exposure to containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Knowledge of message queues (RabbitMQ, Kafka)
- Experience building cloud-native architectures and DevOps practices
- Familiarity with microservices patterns and distributed systems
- Exposure to Linux systems and command-line tools beyond basics
- Experience with React.js or similar frontend frameworks (for cross-team collaboration)

Required Qualifications

- 5+ years professional software development experience
- 3+ years backend development (Python, Java, or Node.js)
