Forest City Surplus is currently looking for a web design assistant and graphic designer for our busy Internet Sales and Marketing department. Forest City Surplus has been an industry leader in online marketing for 30 years.

The candidate will assist in creating web pages for products and banner ads. Graphic design will be used in creating posters and flyers for the store. Please note that this is an in-house position, and the work is to be done on-site at our London, Ontario store. The majority of the duties in the position will involve adding products to our website and everything that job requires (taking and quickly editing photos, quickly removing shadows and backgrounds from those photos, writing sales copy, adding entries into our content management system, adding search keywords, etc.). The successful candidate is a digital salesperson making web pages to sell products virtually. We are always getting new products from new surplus deals, so we constantly need new product pages.

Applicants will also be responsible for creating banner ads, online ads, posters, and print and electronic flyers using Adobe InDesign and Mailerlite. Here is a chance to show your creativity and design sense!

Skills and Experience Required: Knowledge of basic HTML is required. Basic Photoshop and Photo Editing Skills are required. Experience with Adobe InDesign is also required. As this is a team environment, applicants must be able to work with others and receive and act on direction from supervisors.

The candidate must be able to speak and write in fluent and correct English,



as he or she will be required to quickly and accurately gather and edit product descriptions for an extremely wide variety of product web pages and occasionally speak with suppliers for additional product details. The ability to multitask and follow direction is a must. Knowledge and experience with social media platforms is also an asset.

Please be prepared to present a portfolio demonstrating previous digital or print marketing experience.

All applicants must be Canadian Citizens, Permanent Residents, or have a valid work permit. This is an entry-level position with entry-level compensation.

Our location is walking distance from Fanshawe College. We are also on the 2B Dundas bus route and close to the 17 Oxford West LTC bus routes. For those with a car, we also have plenty of free parking (unlike most downtown jobs). Work hours are 10:30-5 weekdays, leaving your evenings and weekends free!
