Job Description:

In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Provides regional services for the majority of time, under the direction of School District #61 (SD61) Coordinator of the Provincial Inclusion Outreach Program (PIOP). Works to provide the deliverables for the contract between Island Health and PIOP. Reports to the CFRS Manager or delegate for clinical responsibilities within Island Health programs. Responsible for assessment, diagnosis, and intervention of a child's physical limitations in the context of the assigned team(s) and a family-centred philosophy in order to promote their social, physical, and psychological well being.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Training And Experience

Graduation from a recognized university program in Physiotherapy. Current licensure in a practicing category with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC as a Physiotherapist. Eligible for membership in the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA). Three (3)



years' experience working with children who have severe/profound physical, cognitive and communication impairments.

Skills And Abilities

- Ability to independently organize and plan treatment programs, set priorities, and to work with parents and other professional disciplines as part of a team.
- Ability to train and monitor others to deliver PT recommendations.
- Ability to be perceptive to the needs of children and families and able to act accordingly with tact, patience, and optimism.
- Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral English, preferably with word processing skills.
- Ability to interact effectively with children with disabilities, families, fellow employees, and the general public.
- Ability to use initiative and exercise good skilled judgment.
- Knowledge of group processes and ability to apply facilitation techniques.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
- Physical and emotional ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Travel is a requirement of the position. Travel arrangements must meet the requirements of the program.
