As our Grain Terminal Manager, you'll lead the day-to-day operation of a grain terminal and seed cleaning facility, oversee a team of approximately 8-10 employees, and play an important role in delivering safe, efficient operations and excellent service to our customers.

Position Summary

The Grain Terminal Manager is a front-line leader responsible for the safe, efficient, and profitable operation of the grain terminal and seed cleaning facility. This position provides day-to-day leadership to a team of approximately 8-10 employees and is accountable for operational performance, employee development, safety, customer service, preventative maintenance, inventory, and continuous improvement.

The successful candidate will be an experienced operations leader who can plan ahead, balance customer requirements with available manpower and equipment, and keep the facility operating safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead, coach, mentor, and develop a team of approximately 8-10 employees.
- Foster a positive, respectful, safe, and accountable workplace culture.
- Oversee daily grain terminal and seed cleaning operations, including receiving, storage, conditioning, cleaning, and shipping.
- Plan workloads, manpower, and required assets 24-36 hours in advance to meet customer commitments and maximize operational efficiency.
- Schedule customer grain and seed drop-offs, cleaning requirements, deliveries, and shipments to provide strong customer service while maximizing productivity.
- Monitor grain quality, inventory, and product movement.
- Coordinate railcar loading and unloading activities and work with the Transportation Supervisor on rail yard management.
- Develop and coordinate weekly, monthly, semi-annual, and annual preventative maintenance plans.




- Work closely with maintenance personnel and contractors to minimize equipment downtime and keep facilities and conveyor systems operating effectively.
- Build strong relationships with producers, customers, suppliers, and transportation partners.
- Resolve customer and operational concerns professionally and clearly communicate any additional fees associated with exception moves or special service requirements.
- Complete operational reports and documentation, monitor operating costs, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
- Champion a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, environmental standards, and food safety requirements.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve safety, productivity, service, and operational performance.

Qualifications & Experience

- Ideally 10+ years of progressive experience in grain handling, agriculture, seed processing, or a related industrial operation.
- Previous supervisory or management experience leading an operational team.
- Strong knowledge of grain handling operations, agriculture, and crops.
- Experience working with conveyor systems and related material-handling equipment.
- Experience managing preventative maintenance programs.
- Strong understanding of applicable Canadian labour and employment requirements and experience scheduling employees to optimize operational efficiency.
- Strong leadership, communication, planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong customer service orientation with the ability to balance customer needs and operational priorities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence.

Assets

- Experience managing a grain terminal and/or seed cleaning facility.
- Previous rail, railcar loading, or railway operations experience.
- Mechanical aptitude and equipment troubleshooting experience.
- Experience with grain inventory management systems.
- First Aid, WHMIS, or other relevant safety certifications.

Work Schedule

- Full-time, permanent position.
- Combination of office and operational field work.
- Occasional evening and weekend work during busy seasons or as operationally required.




- Participation in emergency response as required.
- May be required to provide vacation coverage for other Grain Terminal Managers at line grain elevators.
