Transformation & Implementation Project Manager – Edmonton

We are currently accepting resumes for a Transformation & Implementation Project Manager to join the Benefits and Retirement Team. This is a full-time, temporary 24-month contract position in our Edmonton Member Centre.
Job Summary:
The Transformation & Implementation Project Manager is responsible for coordinating the implementation of the CLAC Benefits & Retirement team future state structure operating model. Working closely with the Benefits & Retirement Director, this position develops and monitors progress, supports change activities, and provides project management to ensures delivery aligns with approved priorities, timelines, and objectives. This position also includes multi-jurisdictional responsibilities with travel.
Key Responsibilities:
Implementation Planning and Coordination
- Supports the Benefits & Retirement Director in setting priorities, monitoring progress, and maintaining alignment with approved implementation objectives.
- Develops and maintains implementation plans for the CLAC Benefits & Retirement team future state structure and the operating model.
- Coordinates activities, timelines, priorities, and dependencies across functional areas to ensure alignment with implementation phases and a consistent approach to changes.
- Monitors project progress and adjust plans to address risks, priorities, and emerging needs.
- Identifies dependencies, risks, and resource needs, working with the Benefits & Retirement Director to address issues impacting progress.
Project Management and Reporting
- Develops and maintains project management tools, documentation and methodologies to support project implementation.
- Maintains project schedules, action items, decision logs, and risk/issue registers.
- Monitors project progress and escalates risks, issues, and dependencies as needed.
- Prepares updates, reports, and summaries to support governance and decision-making.
- Tracks deliverables and follows up on outstanding actions to ensure milestone achievement.
- Provides analysis and recommendations to support planning, reporting, and decision-making.
Communication and Change Coordination
- Develops and coordinates communication and engagement plans to support project implementation.
- Ensures timely, consistent project updates and materials.
- Prepares implementation materials, presentations, meeting agendas, and supporting documentation.
- Coordinates, and facilitates, meetings, workshops, and engagement activities.
- Gathers feedback, and adapts communication and engagement, approaches to support project implementation.
- Supports adoption of changes through ongoing communication and engagement activities.
Operational Readiness and Transition Coordination
- Coordinates activities to prepare the Benefits & Retirement team for transition to the future state operating model.
- Assesses readiness across processes, tools, documentation, and team preparedness, identifying gaps.
- Coordinates the rollout of new processes, documentation, tools, and practices.
- Monitors project implementation and recommends adjustments to support transition success.
- Coordinates the development of resources to support consistent implementation and readiness.
- Captures lessons learned and provides recommendations to support future implementation and the ongoing improvements.
Qualifications:
- University degree with a specialization in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) designation.
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience developing, coordinating and implementing complex projects and business transformation initiatives.
- Experience working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders to coordinate activities and achieve project objectives.
- Experience preparing project plans, reports, presentations, and communications for leadership and project teams.
Skills and Experience:
- Excellent planning, organization,
and project coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, timelines, and competing demands.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills resulting in strong risk mitigation and practical solution recommendations.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills across organization levels and audiences.
- Strong facilitation and meeting management skills, with the ability to coordinate workshops, working sessions, and implementation activities.
- Capable of organizing complex information and translating it into clear implementation plans, communications, and supporting materials.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to monitor progress, track deliverables, and follow through on commitments.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.
Reporting and Accountability:
This position reports directly to the Benefits and Retirement Director.
Compensation:
The annual salary will range from $87,868 to $125,526.
