Position Summary: As the Center Manager, you will lead the daily operations of the childcare center, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and enriching environment for children. You will serve as both administrator and lead educator—modeling best practices in play-based learning, guiding staff in delivering engaging programming, and setting clear, supportive expectations. Your role includes mentoring staff, providing hands-on support, and maintaining strong communication with families and the community. Through your leadership, you will foster a collaborative, high-quality program that supports the growth and well-being of both children and staff. This role requires creativity, patience, and the ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs. As an Educator, you will play a crucial role in shaping the minds of future leaders and instilling a love for learning.

Responsibilities

- Staff Leadership: Spearhead a team of passionate childcare professionals by offering guidance, bolstering support, and administering continuous training. Cultivate a positive and team-oriented workplace culture conducive to professional advancement. Attend interviews and conduct performance reviews to assess employee performance, provide feedback, and support professional development.
- Health and Safety: Uphold a secure and hygienic environment for children by adhering to safety protocols and licensing standards.



Conduct routine safety assessments and ensure seamless execution of emergency procedures.
- Parent Communication: Forge rapport with parents and guardians. Address their inquiries, furnish regular updates on their child's progress, to fortify a community of support.
- Administrative Tasks: Oversee administrative duties such as licensing requisites, attendance monitoring, and meticulous record-keeping. Guarantee meticulous documentation and reporting to meet licensing compliance. Attend weekly management meetings to discuss center operations, challenges, and strategic planning. Quarterly board meetings are optional to keep up to date on program implementation, financials, and organizational goals.
- Maintain the upkeep and cleanliness of daily gear and equipment (including seasonal switchovers and Thule management), conducting regular inspections and scheduling maintenance as needed to ensure safety and efficiency.
- Scheduling: Manage your center schedule, coordinating shift movements and ensuring adequate coverage, with support from the Executive Director (ED) and Operations Manager.
- Community Engagement: Build partnerships with local schools, organizations, and community groups to enhance center programs and strengthen community ties.
- Professional Development: Stay current on early childhood trends and best practices through participating in professional development opportunities.
- Programming: The Center Manager plays a key role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality, engaging, and developmentally appropriate activities for children. This includes actively communicating with the Operations Manager to ensure that age-appropriate toys, tools, and crafts are available to support a dynamic and enriching environment. It also includes prompt delivery and/or explanation of prepared programming and associated materials—including snacks, seasonal items, and risk management supplies—to ensure facilitation staff have the necessary information and resources to implement programming effectively on site.

Experience





- Previous experience in an educational setting is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage students effectively.
- A desire to work outdoors
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment while also demonstrating independence when necessary.
- A passion for education and a commitment to student success are essential traits for this role.

Note: Managers are expected to be actively present on-site for a minimum five days per week. This policy is instrumental in fostering communication between staff and management. By maintaining a physical presence on-site, managers facilitate immediate access to support and guidance for the childcare team. Furthermore, it ensures that parents feel heard and valued, promoting seamless communication of their needs and concerns. This approach guarantees that pertinent information is promptly collected and effectively communicated, ultimately enhancing the overall quality of our childcare services.

Center Managers are expected to be available during program hours five days/ week as well as during early dismissals and professional development days (as per the District 19 calendar) to assist staff as needed in order to run a safe and smooth operation. Management is expected to be available and present upon licensing requests for routine inspections.

Wage: $23/hourly

Center Manager Hours: 15 hours/ week flexible working hours, however attendance to Monday meetings in person is mandatory

Facilitation Hours: Monday - Friday 5 shifts/week minimum between the hours of 2:00pm-6:00pm (maximum 20 facilitation hours)

Total hours: (CM and Facilitation) will not be more than 35 hours a week
