Job Overview
We are a multinational hotel group seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Junior Accountant to support the day-to-day accounting activities of our hotel portfolio.
The successful candidate will be responsible for account reconciliations, bank reconciliations, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and other activities across the order-to-cash and procure-to-pay cycles.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly bank and credit-card reconciliations.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate outstanding or unusual items.
- Support the monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes.
- Process customer invoices, receipts, deposits, refunds, and account adjustments.
- Monitor accounts receivable balances and follow up on outstanding payments.
- Assist in reconciling hotel revenue reports, property-management systems, payment terminals, and bank deposits.
- Process vendor invoices, purchase orders, expense reports, and payment requests.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve invoice or payment discrepancies.
- Maintain accounts payable and accounts receivable aging schedules.
- Assist with intercompany reconciliations and transactions.
- Assist with audit requests, tax filings (HST/GST/QST), and special accounting projects.
- Follow established accounting controls, approval procedures, and company policies.
- Work with hotel teams and vendors to resolve accounting and payment-related issues.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business,
or a related field.
- One to three years of accounting, bookkeeping, or finance experience.
- Understanding of general ledger accounting, bank reconciliations, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to investigate discrepancies and follow transactions through to resolution.
- Transparent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet reporting deadlines.
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in hotels, hospitality, real estate, or a multi-location business is preferred.
- Experience with QuickBooks is preferred.
- Familiarity with hotel property-management systems and payment-processing platforms is an asset.
- Progress toward a CPA designation is an asset.
